| Joan Van Ark is one of America's most famous actresses and best known for playing Valene Ewing in the classic soap Knots Landing which is showing at the moment on CBS Drama. Here Joan chats about her career, her time on Knots Landing and her plans for the future.
CBSD: How did you get your first big break into acting?
JVA: With Mike Nichols directing. I auditioned in New York at 19 years old to play the female lead in the Barefoot In The Park national tour. Later, we took it to London and Broadway. (I have a photo of me in front of the Piccadilly Theatre). Great memories.

| CBS Chello Zone Channels UK Partnership has acquired the rights to broadcast the contemporary Award winning drama Waterloo Road in deal with Warner Bros International Television Distribution and Shed Productions, the production company responsible for Bad Girls and Footballer's Wives. International Television Distribution, which will premiere on CBS Drama from April 2013. | It seems quite incredible to think that Taxi, the comedy drama that launched the careers of Danny DeVito, Judd Hirsch and Christopher Lloyd is now 35 years old. The show, which ran for 114 episodes, was a change of direction for American situation comedy as it added honest pathos rather than saccharine coated sentiment.
Created by James L. Brooks, Stan Daniels, David Davis and Ed Weinberger the show is an ensemble piece with huge, but believable characters, that had to deal with everyday issues. By keeping it cemented in reality the show tackled subjects you wouldn't normally associate with comedy and it's this dramatic element that made it television not to be missed.

| It is with great sadness that we report Larry Hagman, star of the legendary series Dallas has died at the age of 81.
Hagman, who helped to make his character J.R. one of the most memorable and best loved TV villains in the world, appeared in every single episode of the original run and also starred in the recent re-boot.
He will also be remembered for playing the character of Tony Nelson in the hit comedy I Dream Of Jeannie during the 1960s.
Our thoughts go to his family and friends at this sad time.
